Meeting Agenda

More details are coming soon but you won’t want to miss the first FEN meeting of the 2023-2024 school year.  We truly believe the ability to talk and learn from another district is the best professional development in which an operations employee can engage. Generally, our meetings run from 8:30am to 1:00pm and will typically include a roundtable discussion about what’s happening in your districts and settlement reports.

FEN sponsors a light breakfast with the meeting running from 8:30am to 1:00pm.  The agenda currently contains:

  • Opening –  presented by FEN President Mark West, Chief Human Resources Officer, Volusia County Schools
  • The continuing implementation of SB 256 (Chapter 2023-35, Laws of Florida) concerning public sector unions.  The program will cover a review of the bill, PERC rulemaking, the status of the court challenges, the membership forms and union registration renewal. Presenter:  Kevin Watson, Executive Director. FEN
  • A legal update. Presenter – Kevin W. Pendley, B.C.S., General Counsel-Volusia County Schools
  • Roundtable discussion about what’s happening in your districts and settlement reports with additional details from the FEN settlement survey on salaries and health care.
